A Message from the Spring Lake Community House & Theatre

The Spring Lake Community House and Theatre mourns the loss of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and the countless other lives destroyed as a result of racial injustices that have prevailed in our country for far too long.

Racism is an infection. It kills, it ruins, and it can often blind us to our own unconscious biases. It is easy to feel insulated when living in a safe and supportive community such as the one we find ourselves in.

But we must not bury our heads in the sand when there are real and immediate dangers threatening the lives of our fellow human beings across the nation.

As a community organization, we know it is our responsibility to celebrate and nurture the best in people.

The Spring Lake Community House and Theatre strives to create an inclusive space for students and performers, many of whom have spoken out against the many injustices in our country and are working to find new ways to help in the fight for equality. We are ready to join them in this fight. We hope you will join us as well.

A statement like this can come across as empty if we do not put action behind it. That is why we will be supporting the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, an organization working to achieve racial justice through litigation, advocacy, and public education. We encourage you to do the same. You can find a link to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund here.

In addition, here is a list of resources for anyone looking to get involved, donate, or educate themselves.

We know this is only a first step, but we look forward to continuing this journey.
